What are you waiting for? Let’s sing and dance your way to Korean fluency! So do not underestimate Kpop when it comes to studying the Korean language. I’ve introduced artists and their songs to help you learn a lot of vocabulary and grammar patterns. So, today, we will cover K-pop!īut exactly how? Here’s a small help from our side. We have already covered how you can learn Korean with films and dramas. If you are a Korean language learner, you must have thought about learning Korean through Kdrama, Kmovie, and Kpop.
If you’d like to start with NCT Dream, I’m not familiar with all of their songs but I think Boom is a good song. If you want to go into NCT 127 I’d start with Regular English ver. I started with NCT 127 but if you want to hear the song that started off NCT it’s The 7th Sense. They have subgroups so I would recommend starting with one group and getting to know everyone there. I also started listening to kpop last year and I am very picky but I really really love NCT! Although I still don’t have all the members down (there’s 23!) I’ve learned the names of a majority of them. Lee Young Ji (not that familiar with her personally, but a friend is). Jiwoo (not to be confused with Jiwoo of KARD, who's female) Jonghyun (of Shinee - RIP & God bless to him).Ĭolde (specifically, Offonoff, a duo he formed with a producer) RM (of BTS - his second mixtape, Mono, is a good choice if you don't like swearing) NCT (all the subgroups are good, but NCT 127 specifically is the one I listen to most). I have a massive set of fairly-well organized playlists on Spotify. Apologies if this is massively overwhelming & please let me know if you have any questions. I'll separate the recs by whether the artist(s) are mainstream or independent, by genre, & by group gender.
I love R&B & rap, & I also follow tons of independent artists in addition to more mainstream groups of all types, so condensing down the number into a manageable list is really difficult. Their music is very heavily RnB-inspired so if you’re into that you’ll like them! Song recs: dOra maar, savanna, gaslighting, angel, bOss OnlyOneOf - another pretty unknown group, they have a very mature and sensual/sexual concept.
Song recs: Drunk-Dazed, Given-Taken, Fever, Upper Side Dreamin’, Polaroid Love, Go Big or Go Home Their concept is vampires and their music is genuinely fantastic. Song recs: Zombie, Can We Talk Again, Skip Skip, Ponzona, My MyĮnhypen - popular group formed from competition show I-Land. Honestly couldn’t tell you what their concept is but they’re great. Purple Kiss - not quite nugu but still pretty unknown. Song recs: Addicted, Bewitched, The Moon, Call me, Insomnia Pixy - another nugu group with a darker, horror concept. Song recs: Karma, Black Crown, Fallen Star, Warning, X Their music is fantastic and their MVs are very high quality despite their low budget. Kingdom - nugu group with a very in depth royalty lore. I’m also a big fan of SKZ and Ateez and I like TXT’s music too! Here are my suggestions:
